The p-p-p-p-PLUNGE!
Every year the kids and dads (cough cough) like to participate in the "Polar Bear Plunge". "Polar Bear" meaning the water is FREEZING cold! The temperature outside was no more than 50 degrees. Our numbers were fewer this year due to colds, "big chicken" syndrome, and the basic lack of desire. These boys and girls braved the cold water with enthusiasm and a smile on their faces. My favorite part of the video is after the countdown, when they all look at each other, reconsider, and then are sucked in by the peer pressure.

My favorite part is Matt and Jeremy's comments at the end of the video. Big wimps.
That was great! I heard so much about the upcoming "jump" when I was in town that it was great to watch! I hope everyone survived! I laughed so hard...
Okay, that is seriously hillarious!!! I loved how all the adults were all bundled up in coats in sweatshirts :)
Just wanted to say Hello, while I was laughing so hard!
Funny! My brothers would do this after the New Year too and the lure was $5 dollars for whoever was the first one. As they became older it just wasn't worth it. I can't believe you got so many kids to do. It looked like the girls were a lot braver than the boys.
Love it! They do a Polar Bear Challenge here at the lake on New Year's too. It starts off as just getting in the water, but then people go wakeboarding & waterskiing! INSANE! It's a fundraiser for the local Make A Wish foundation. Although it's for a good cause, you won't catch me doing it. Not when there is still snow on the shoreline, no way!
Looks like the kids - and adults - sure had fun! The true test will be who does it again next year!
I can't believe the adults were such chickens this year. What happened to all that "tough talk" the night before????
